Extraction cascades are apparatuses for the continuous extraction of water-soluble substances from solid materials. Extraction agents and solid substances are conveyed in a several-stage counter-current process. In the first stage another but specifically lighter liquid phase can be separated in addition to extracted particles and solid phase. The extraction cascade allows conveying the solid phase from the last back to the first stage, and various other multi-stage processes can be configured.
